Marcie and Ken at the Natural Pool. This is
located on the east side of the island, where it's generally rocky with
large waves. This pool is protected from crashing waves by the large
boulders. This is one of the few places on the east side that you can
swim. |

A self portrait taken (by
Marcie) while snorkeling. |
|
Marcie and Ken on our horseback ride. We took a 3
hour ride along the east side of the island and to the Natural Pool.
These horses weren't like the usual horse rides in the States...they
trotted, galloped, and all out ran. We weren't really prepared for
it! |
|
Here we are at the Natural Bridge. Centuries of
raging wind (the island is very windy) and waves sculpted this coral rock
bridge. This is located on the east side of the island. |
|
Cactus are prevalent everywhere on Aruba. In the
background is Ayo rock formations. These boulders are said to be a
mystery because they don't match the geological make-up of the island. |
|
Jeanny, Marcie, and Ken, at the top of Casibari rock
formations- very similar to the Ayo formations. In the background is
Hooiberg Mountain (Dutch for Haystack). It is the second highest point
on the island, and on a clear day, you can see Venezuela (19 miles
away). Jeanny is like a surrogate daughter to Aunt Dorothy, and is a
native Aruban. |
|
Aruba is a desert island, thus their golf course isn't
exactly green. Above is Marcie standing in the middle of the
fairway! The greens were either artificial turf, sand, or ground
asphalt. Playing this course made golf seem like a whole new game. |
|
Ken, Marcie, Jeanny, and Lando in front of the Balashi
Gold Smelter Ruins. Jeanny and her boyfriend Lando took us
sightseeing, and we saw all sorts of neat things that only natives know
about. They were wonderful tour guides! |
|
Ken's great photography skills got him this great picture
of an iguana climbing a tree. Iguanas and other small lizards are a
frequent site! |
